> Proprietary History and Strategy
In 1997, Barr announced
plans to extend its pharmaceutical research and development activities into
proprietary product development.
In October 2001, after
its acquisition of Duramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Barr dramatically strengthened
its commitment to proprietary product development with the formation of Barr
Research, Inc. In August 2005, Barr Research, Inc. became Duramed Research,
Inc. The Duramed Research team has extensive brand product experience in
clinical trials, toxicology, regulatory affairs, pharmacokinetics, statistics
and medical writing. The team's primary focus is the expansion of a robust
strategic proprietary product portfolio through the submission of New Drug
Applications (NDAs).
